Terms
Terms of Service
Effective June 27, 2026
These terms apply to the official Ohiyo hosted service at ohiyo.gg, app.ohiyo.gg, and ohiyo.fly.dev. The Ohiyo source code is open source under the license in the GitHub repository; separate self-hosted deployments are operated by whoever runs them.
1. Launch-stage service
Ohiyo is in early public launch. We will work hard to keep it available and safe, but features may change, break, be rate-limited, or be temporarily unavailable. Desktop downloads may be paused on platforms where code signing or notarization is not ready.
2. Your account and security
- Use accurate, non-impersonating account/profile information.
- Keep your password, devices, recovery codes, and invite links safe.
- You are responsible for activity from your account unless caused by our failure to secure the hosted service.
3. Acceptable use
Do not use Ohiyo to abuse, harass, exploit, spam, distribute malware, attack systems, violate others' rights, or break the law. Do not attempt to bypass rate limits, probe private infrastructure, interfere with other users' servers, or upload content you do not have the right to share.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit. You grant us the limited permission needed to host, transmit, back up, secure, and operate the service. Because Ohiyo is end-to-end encrypted for private message content, the hosted server generally cannot read message plaintext, but it still processes operational metadata and unencrypted app state needed to run the product.
5. Moderation and enforcement
We may remove content, suspend access, limit features, or terminate hosted instances when necessary to protect users, infrastructure, legal compliance, or the service. Community/server owners may also moderate their own spaces using built-in tools.
6. Third-party services
Ohiyo integrates with infrastructure and distribution providers such as GitHub, Cloudflare, Fly.io, and Apple/GitHub release systems. Their terms may also apply. Discord import features require you to comply with Discord's rules and any applicable export/import laws.
7. No warranty
The hosted service and software are provided as-is and as-available. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, perfect security, or that every feature will fit every use case.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Ohiyo's maintainers and operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data/profits, arising from use of the service.
9. Changes
We may update these terms as Ohiyo evolves. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated terms.
